Design duo Storm Thorgerson Aubrey Powell better known by their collective name Hipgnosis are renowned in the music world for creating iconic cover art for rock and roll greats. From Pink Floyd to Paul McCartney, Hipgnosis have been behind some of the most well known and well loved album artworks, shaping the aesthetic of the music industry since the late 1960s. This new series of limited editions brings the images back to life as archival inkjet prints, each one in beautiful, never before seen, clarity. ‘In Through The Out Door Led Zeppelin’ features the original artwork from the 1979 Led Zeppelin album of the same name. The image depicts a bar scene, rendered in dusty, sepia tones. The band conceived of the album as a ‘fresh lick of paint’ a return to their bluesy roots which the artists have symbolised with a thick brushstroke at the centre of the image. Full of nostalgia and saturated with a rich, bygone aesthetic, ‘In Through The Out Door Led Zeppelin’ possesses a power that transcends its original musical context. A must have for the Zeppelin fan, the retro music collector, and anyone with a keen eye for the iconic.
